Grade 5 Camp - Sovereign Hill
The Grade 5 Camp to Sovereign Hill was fantastic fun. Despite some chilly weather everyone had a wonderful time. Highlights included dressing up in 1850's clothes and attending school as if it were the 1850's, Blood on the Southern Cross - Sound and Light Show, Concert Night and Shopping around Sovereign Hill.
Grade 1 Excursion - Knox City
On Thursday 18th June the Grade 1 students went to Knox City for an excursion. They visited the Police Station, Coles Supermarket, Knox Library and Crocs Play Centre. It was a very enjoyable day.

Learning By Doing
On Thursday 14th of June all Grade 5 students had the opportunity to participate in the 'Learning By Doing - Woodwork Workshop'. Students learnt basic woodwork skills and enjoyed putting these skills to task in making a small wooden sailing ship. Students are going to paint and decorate their sailing ships in Art Class. They will provide a great memento to their studies on the 'First Fleet', our integrated unit this term. All students enjoyed the hands-on nature of the workshop and getting to make their wooden ships.

Chess Club
Chess Club is open to all students at Kent Park. Once a week, during lunch time chess club students enjoy the opportunity to play each other and refine their skills. Chess members battle it out all term to find the Chess Champion!

First Aid
On Monday the 1st of June the Grade 6's spent the whole day learning and doing an Emergency First Aid Course ran by National First Aid. Students were taught the skills to assist people in an emergency. All students got the opportunity to put their skills to test performing Dr. ABCD emergency procedure, learnt on dummies.

St. Johns Ambulance Visit
On Thursday 21st May St. Johns Ambulance came to the school. They spoke to the Year 1's about their role in the community. The Year 1's learnt about the types of equipment used and how they look after people when there is an emergency. The Year 1's had a great time during this incursion.

Official Buildings Work Opening
On Tuesday 19th May, the Minister for Education, Bronwyn Pike, officially opened the Stage Two Building Works. The School Captains, Alisha and Niraj accepted the plaque from the Minister on the school's behalf, at our special school assembly. This was a proud day for everyone.



Buddies' Teddy Bears' Picnic
This term Year 5 and Preps enjoyed an afternoon together with their teddy bears. This was part of our Prep Buddies Program. Everyone had a great time.


Cross Country
On Wednesday 20th May the Cross Country team headed to the Knox Athletics track to compete in the District Cross Country. Congratulations to all of the Kent Park students who ran and we wish a special good luck to all the successful students who qualified for the Regional Cross Country later in the year.


Hawthorn Football Clinic
On Tuesday 19th of May the Grade 5/6 Football Squad were lucky enough to have a visit and a football clinic with premiership player Jordan Lewis from the Hawthorn Football Club. The students had a great time asking Jordan questions about life as an AFL player, playing a practice game with him and getting his autograph. We thank Jordan for a great afternoon.
Tree Planting Day
On Thursday 16th April all students participated in 'Tree Planting Day' at Kent Park Primary School. All students received the opportunity to plant a tree of their own into one of the new garden areas around the school. A special thank you to one of our parent School Council representatives Mr. Andrew Wright who played a major role in purchasing the plants and in organising this day. What a great success!
Everyone did a great job and actually enjoyed getting their hands dirty.

Annual Hat Day
On Tuesday the 2nd of April Kent Park Primary School hosted its Annual Hat Day. All students came dressed in a range of different types of hats and prizes were awarded in a range of categories. A great morning was had by all, including all the parents who supported the event.
